The Fredericksburg Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred earlier today

At 2:56 p.m., the Fredericksburg E-911 Center received a call for shots fired in the 400 block of Chadwick Court. Patrol officers arrived at 2:59 p.m. to discover a male unresponsive, lying in a parking space with multiple gunshot wounds. Patrol officers performed CPR and provided life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Patrol officers set up a perimeter around the scene, interviewed bystanders, and began the investigation while a detective was requested to respond to the incident.

The victim was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a hospital. Fredericksburg Police have notified the next of kin. Out of respect to the family, the agency will not release any personal information about the deceased until tomorrow.

The investigation is in its infancy, and any information the public has will be helpful. If you have information regarding this incident, call (540) 373-3122. To make an anonymous tip, send a text to “847-411” and text “FPDtip” followed by your information. Or, download the free FPD Tip app available for Android and iPhones.
