Fredericksburg Police Investigating Pedestrian Struck by VRE Commuter Train

The Fredericksburg Police Department is actively investigating a pedestrian struck by a VRE Commuter Train who succumbed to their injuries earlier this morning. At 5:37 am, the Fredericksburg E-911 Center received a call for a pedestrian struck on the train tracks in the area of Prince Edward Street and Frederick Street. Patrol officers and detectives responded to the scene to secure the area and investigate the incident. At 8:12 am, the medical examiner arrived on the scene and began conducting their investigation. The Fredericksburg Police Department is working in conjunction with the CSX Police Department.

The medical examiner has approved trains to resume travel. However, VRE train traffic has been impacted due to this incident.

The pedestrian was Christian Kinsella, 21, of Fredericksburg. The next of kin has been notified.
