A juvenile was detained at the conclusion of a stolen vehicle pursuit last night.
On November 14th at approximately 7:22 p.m., Deputy C.C. Lee responded to the area of Shelton Shop read for a report of a stolen vehicle. The work van was stolen out of Prince William County and the owner was tracking the vehicle via GPS. When Deputy Lee arrived in the area, he observed the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Aquia Animal Hospital. The vehicle quickly fled.
As more deputies responded, the suspect vehicle sped up to 80 MPH Westbound on Garrisonville Road. The vehicle would continue onto Augusta Drive until it hit a dead end. With nowhere else to go, the driver went down an embankment into a copse of trees. The driver then attempted to flee on foot. In Stafford County, that never works out. After a short foot chase the driver was detained.
The driver was identified as a 17-year-old male. During the search incident to arrest, a handgun was located in the juvenile’s jacket. The handgun returned as stolen out of Fairfax. The juvenile was charged with eluding police, possession of a handgun by a juvenile and unlawful possession of a stolen firearm. He was held at the Juvenile Detention Center. Great work to all the deputies involved in the pursuit.
