A Stafford man was arrested yesterday after he attempted to flee deputies at a local motel.
On May 8th at 3:48 a.m. Sgt. J.T. Forman responded to a medical emergency at Motel 6, 401 Warrenton Road. Medics had arrived and noticed an irate man screaming in front of the room they needed to enter.
Sgt. Forman noticed the man had difficulty standing, slurred speech and appeared to be under the influence. The man was instructed to allow medics to do their job and he hesitantly allowed medics access to the patient.
While medics rendered aid, the man continued to yell, curse and move about the parking lot. Sgt. Forman instructed the man to turn around and he was no longer free to leave. Instead of complying, the man attempted to flee toward the road, but was rebuffed by a small tree.
The man was subsequently taken into custody and identified as Hubert Palacios, Jr., 28. He was charged with obstruction and public intoxication and held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
