BOARD OF SUPERVISORS EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY FIRST HALF TAX PAYMENTS

23

At its May 10, 2022 meeting, the Caroline County Board of Supervisors adopted an emergency ordinance to defer the due date for 2022 first half personal property tax payments by sixty (60) days to August 5, 2022 to assist citizens and businesses of the County. No interest or penalties will be applied to payments received by August 5, 2022. Following this date, interest on late payments will return to 10% per year. Penalties of 10% will also be applied to payments received after August 5, 2022.

The deadline extension for first half personal property tax payments applies to all personal property, including motor vehicles, farm equipment, machinery and tools and business equipment.

The deadline extension does not apply to 2022 first half real estate, public service or mineral tax bills. These real estate tax bills must be received by June 6, 2022 to avoid additional charges.

Taxpayers with questions about first half personal property tax payments should contact Treasurer Elizabeth Curran by email at treasurer@co.caroline.va.us or by phone at 804-633-5291.
