27

Fredericksburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb. 28

On Saturday, February 26th, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop after witnessing the driver of a Toyota Camry failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Mall Court and Plank Road.  The driver, identified as Nicole White, 38, of Stafford County was found to be in possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. White was taken into police custody and charged with possession of a schedule I/II controlled substance and was held on a secured bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

At approximately the same time, patrol officers responded to the Super 8 Motel located at 3002 Mall Court to serve outstanding warrants on two individuals. Officers made contact with Derek Toles, one of the wanted subjects staying at the hotel. While arresting Toles in his hotel room, officers saw narcotics in plain view and a second person in the room, later identified as Daran Horton. Horton and Toles were taken into police custody without incident and a search warrant was executed. Several illegal substances were seized (photo right), including gel capsules containing white powder, suspected crack cocaine, marijuana, and other drug paraphernalia.

Daran Horton, 22, of Baltimore, Maryland was arrested on a charge of fugitive from justice on a felony warrant. Horton remains incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Derek Toles, 35, of Locust Grove, Virginia was arrested on three outstanding warrants from Stafford County. Toles remains incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.

Additional charges for Horton and Toles are pending laboratory results.
