County of King George issued the following announcement on Dec. 17
Governor Ralph Northam has included $16 million in his two-year budget proposal to address critical wastewater needs facing the King George County Service Authority (KGCSA). This proposal is a part of the Governor's historic funding to support the Chesapeake Bay, clean water infrastructure, and conservation of the Commonwealth's natural resources. Upon adoption in the upcoming session of the Virginia General Assembly, King George County Service Authority proposes to use the funds to address multiple wastewater projects.
KGCSA, Chair, Annie Cupka said, "This funding would go a long way to resolve regulatory concerns and provide for future capacity upgrades, without the assumption of new debt, which we know would otherwise directly burden our customer base. That's good for business, and great for our environment. I am grateful to Senator Stuart for advocating for the needs of our community."
Senator Richard Stuart, a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources, was influential in supporting the $16 million allocation in the Governor's budget to support KGSA projects.
County Administrator and KGCSA, Interim GM, Chris Miller said, "Receiving this funding would be a real shot in the arm for our Service Authority as an organization and will be welcome news for their customers. We thank Senator Stuart and the Commonwealth of Virginia for their continued and future support."
