Fredericksburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 18
Last night at approximately 10:20 p.m., the Fredericksburg Police E-911 Center received a report of an armed robbery that occurred near the traffic light at Riverside Manor Boulevard and Fall Hill Avenue. The caller stated she witnessed an unknown male inside her vehicle. She and her son confronted the person who became combative, cut her son with a knife, and fled with her purse in the direction of the Central Park Walmart. Patrol officers responded, set up a perimeter around the scene, and began their investigation while a detective was requested to respond to the incident. A Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team also responded to perform a search for the suspect. The suspect was located hiding in a nearby shed and taken into custody.
Christopher Bradford, 23, of Fredericksburg, was arrested on the following charges:
• Vehicle tampering
• Malicious wounding
• Grand larceny
• Obstruction of justice/resisting arrest
Bradford is currently incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
