Public Works and Utilities Department Enters Into Water Meter Replacement Project
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bowling Green, VA. – October 1, 2021; The Town of Bowling Green Public Works and Utilities Department is working with Core & Main, a leading distributor in water and sewer products, to replace the water meters throughout town. The project is set to begin Tuesday, October 5th and will start in the Bowling Green Meadows subdivision. The replacement project is expected to take several months to complete.
The new water meters are digitized through a radio technology system called automated meter reading or AMR, allowing for accurate readings and staff efficiency in both the field and in the office. The upgrade to AMR technology will also allow for residents to better monitor water usage in individual households.
Bowling Green residents will be notified of the project with door-hangers and should expect to see inspectors and contractors making their way through different residential areas in town. Residents are encouraged to contact the Bowling Green Business Offices with questions or concerns.
“We want to do our best to let folks know that there may be some construction happening around town over the next several months,” stated Josh Irby, Director of Public Works and Utilities. Irby added, “We’re hoping that the project won’t be too disruptive and the long-term benefits will outweigh some of the minor inconveniences for our residents here in town. We appreciate everyone’s patience.”
The water meter replacement project is one of many infrastructure improvement projects in Bowling Green and is part of a loan-grant package offered through USDA.
