15

Office of Stafford County Sheriff issued the following announcement on Sept. 16

The suspect in a burglary from last year has been apprehended in Fairfax County.

On October 10, 2020 at 6:07 p.m., deputies responded to the Stafford County Landfill (489 Eskimo Hill Road) for a burglary in progress. The employee advised security footage was showing someone inside the maintenance building at the landfill. Deputies set-up a perimeter around the building. A drone and robot were used to search the building and it was discovered the suspect had fled prior to deputy arrival.

The investigation revealed the male suspect entered the building and forced entry through the door to the office. Once inside the office, the suspect pried open a safe containing two firearms. He removed two shotguns from the safe and stole a Snap-on brand diagnostic scanner before fleeing the scene.

The investigation was assigned to Detective D.V. Torrice Jr. who obtained the serial number for the stolen scanner. It was discovered the scanner was pawned in Prince George County, Maryland by Dihojan Tabarez. The scanner was recovered and returned to the landfill.

On September 13, Tabarez was apprehended in Fairfax County and served outstanding warrants for this case. Tabarez is charged with burglary, three counts of grand larceny, and obtaining goods by false pretenses. He remains incarcerated at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
