Fredericksburg Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 16
On Saturday, September 11th, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Fredericksburg Police E-911 Center received a report from a concerned citizen who heard a single gunshot fired in an apartment in the 2000 block of Woodlyn Drive. Patrol officers responded and met with one of the tenants who reported a female died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Upon further investigation and an autopsy, Fredericksburg Police detectives determined the victim was murdered. Yesterday, September 15th, Fredericksburg Police arrested Christopher Alexander, 26, of Fredericksburg on the following charges:
• Second Degree Murder
• Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony
• Discharging a Firearm within the City of Fredericksburg limits Causing Injury
Alexander remains incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The victim was identified as Amanda Seay, 27, of Fredericksburg. Seay and Alexander lived together.
