Stafford County issued the following announcement on Sept. 8.
The Stafford County Board of Supervisors declares Saturday, September 11, 2021, “Patriot Day” in Stafford County. The purpose is to honor and remember the 2,977 people who died in the attacks on September 11, 2001, and the more than 7,000 servicemen and women who have died since in conflicts related to September 11. Stafford asks that residents join the County in lowering flags at half-staff on September 11. They also ask that residents observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. on September 11 in remembrance of those lost on September 11.
In observance, Stafford is closing County offices and departments at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021. Circuit Court will be open for a full day. The Regional Landfill and the Belman Road Recycling Center will remain open, but the Rappahannock Regional Solid Waste Management Board’s administrative offices will close at 12:30 p.m.
