Caroline County issued the following announcement on Aug. 26
On Tuesday, Sept. 7, just after 9 a.m., the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will begin work to replace the Route 665 (Dodge City Road) bridge over Beverly Run in Caroline County.
The project will replace the existing structurally deficient, timber deck bridge. Crews will install a new 45-foot concrete structure on concrete abutments and piles.
The existing bridge, built in 1958, is 27 feet in length.
The project is expected to be complete in approximately four months.
During construction the portion of Dodge City Road at Beverly Run will be closed to through traffic. During the closure drivers will be detoured approximately 5 miles using the following routes:
Route 665 (Dodge City Road)
Route 625 (Passing Road)
Route 618 (Beverly Run Road)
The road will be closed to through traffic at the work site 24 hours a day. Construction activity will be underway from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
According to a recent VDOT traffic count, approximately 221 vehicles use this portion of Dodge City Road daily.
