Office of Stafford County Sheriff issued the following announcement on Aug. 19
ASSAULT
Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers 28 South Gateway Drive, 8/18, 10:04 p.m. Deputy D.A. Earp responded to the restaurant for a subject that refused to leave the drive-thru. While the deputy was investigating the incident, the suspect assaulted the deputy. Jason Nance, 45, of Stafford, was charged with assault and battery on law enforcement. Nance was released by the magistrate on a $1,000 unsecure bond.
FRAUD
Augustine Subdivision, 8/18, 5:36 p.m. Resident reported he received a call from someone claiming to be his grandson and explaining he had just been involved in an accident. The suspect impersonating the grandson then gave the phone to another person who demanded money to keep the grandson from being arrested. The incident is under investigation.
LARCENY
Sheetz 1175 Garrisonville Road, 8/18, 3:47 p.m. Customer reported she left her computer on a table in the store while using the restroom. When she returned, the computer was missing. The suspect is described as a black male in his 30’s driving a black Lincoln Navigator. Deputies are working to have the video enhanced for a “Can You Identify” flyer.
Algrace Boulevard, 8/18, 5:16 p.m. Resident reported her Kate Spade purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight.
1100 Block of International Parkway, 8/18, 10:30 a.m. Victim reported his black 2002 Mercedes ML320 was stolen from the parking lot of the business sometime in the last day. The vehicle has been entered into a national stolen database.
TRAFFIC OFFENSE
Red Roof Inn 386 Warrenton Road 8/18, 1:26 p.m. Deputy B.W. Gildea conducted a traffic stop at this location for improper registration. Upon stopping, the driver fled the vehicle into the wooded area toward I-95. Deputies set up a perimeter and utilized the drone, but the suspect was able to evade capture yesterday. The investigation is ongoing and deputies are working to identify and arrest the suspect.
