Stolen Vehicle Recovered

22

Office of Stafford County Sheriff issued the following announcement on July 21

Two suspects in possession of a stolen vehicle have been apprehended after attempting to elude deputies.

On July 19 at 3 p.m., Deputy R.T. Kulbeth responded to the area of Widewater Road for a report of a reckless driver. The caller provided a photo of the vehicle, a Volkswagen Jetta, with the vehicle’s license plate number visible. Deputy Kulbeth ran the license plate number and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen out of Prince William County.

While patrolling near the Pick-A-Part on Norman Road, Deputy Kulbeth observed the vehicle parked and occupied by two males. As Deputy Kulbeth approached the vehicle, the driver fled on-foot. Deputy Kulbeth gave chase and then heard the vehicle accelerating towards him. He ran out of the vehicle’s path and observed the male who had been in the passenger’s seat driving the vehicle onto Norman Road. Additional deputies responded to the area and began searching for the suspects.

After realizing the only way out of the area was to travel back towards the Pick-A-Part, the suspect encountered awaiting deputies. He was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody without further incident. He was identified as a 17-year-old male from Woodbridge. A credit card belonging to the owner of the vehicle was found in his possession. The juvenile was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen credit card, obstruction of justice, and reckless driving. He was held at the Rappahannock Juvenile Detention Center.

The second suspect was not immediately located in the area. After further investigation, Deputy Kulbeth identified him as Bryant Munoz-Rubio, 18. Munoz-Rubio was apprehended by deputies yesterday afternoon at his Stafford residence. He was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, obstruction of justice, eluding, and driving without a license. Munoz-Rubio was held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
